The “Rowing Against Cancer” rowing regatta will take place again on September 6 in Halle/Saale! Hundreds of rowing boats will take to the water here for a good cause, aiming to support people with cancer and give them hope. There are always boats in which former patients row alongside the others. Year after year, our club also fields a boat with young adults.
Two years ago, the “Rowing Against Cancer – ActiveOncoKids Cup 2026” was held for the first time at this event in Halle/Saale, allowing children and teenagers who have overcome cancer to row alongside others. In September, the Cup will take place in Halle for the second time, and we at Kinderplanetarier—in cooperation with Jana Stolle, the sports therapist at Halle University Hospital—naturally want to enter a boat in the race again. But first, we have to train.
For most of the kids and teens, the first trial training session on June 29 was the first time in their lives they’d sat in a rowboat. It was quite a wobbly experience! But in the end, the coaches from the Halleschen Ruder-Club e.V. gave us a lot of positive feedback, so nothing stands in the way of our preparations for the regatta. Many thanks to the team at the Halleschen Ruder-Club for their great support and guidance!
