Marie + parents

Dear founders, initiators and active members of the Association for the Promotion of Children with Cancer Halle (Saale) e. V., it is nice that you exist and it was good that we are supported by you. After Marie's diagnosis we ended up in the pediatric oncology department of the UK Halle. Our lives were suddenly different and had to be reorganized. The concentration that one needs in this situation is disturbed by a carousel of emotions that one cannot and does not like to describe. We were given a lot to read, had to make decisions quickly and fill out applications. Our luck was that we got Sylvia Schmieder, one of the good souls of the association, from the clinic for the bureaucracy that we had to do and have to do.

She came the same day as we were on our way to the clinic with the seemingly endless "docket", calmed us down, exchanged phone numbers and gave us assistance for everything that still needed to be done. Great and a big thank you! With all the hurdles that there are so in our bureaucracy to overcome, we received the care level and the disability card and submitted the application for the family-oriented REHA. Since Marie did not attend school during the time of treatment, we submitted an application for private lessons.

Thank you Mrs. Schmieder for your support. Without it, it would have been more difficult and time-consuming for us or we would not have even known what options were available. Nothing happens automatically. Everyday life in the hospital is subject to a plan corresponding to the illness or the course of the illness. This is colorfully arranged every day by the socio-pedagogical support in all moods and everyday hospital situations. Lisa-Marie Schulz and Nicole Hildebrandt, the good souls for the distraction in the daily compulsory program. So we could have a lot of laughter and fun while doing handicrafts, playing games and sharing interests.  We fondly remember, for example, handmade owls, painted T-shirts and rounds of games - preferably on the theme of Harry Potter. Thank you also to you.

We think it is very good that the pediatric oncology team integrates the Halle (Saale) Association for the Promotion of Children with Cancer (Verein zur Förderung krebskranker Kinder Halle (Saale) e. V.) into the daily routine in this way. We like it very much and always look forward to visiting you.

What is also very important to us is that there is a kitchen on the ward. This way, we could keep favorite dishes cool, heat them up or prepare them on the pediatric oncology ward, depending on Marie's appetite. Since we have also been on another ward many times due to space constraints, we really appreciate the kitchen.

Happy Birthday and please keep up the good work! You are needed!

Congratulations Marie + parents
