Just good that you exist

Just good that you exist ...

for 30 years now!

You have certainly made the difficult time much easier for many children and parents. For us it would have been unimaginable without you. No matter what was on our mind, you were and are always there for us. Whether it was bureaucratic, organizational, uplifting conversations and drying tears.

But the most important thing is that you always managed to put a smile on the face of our seven-year-old daughter Luzi, even when she was sometimes not feeling well. You dispelled boredom with handicrafts, painting, playing or just fooling around and wrapped the ward in a colorful and cheerful atmosphere.

Even after our first intensive therapy, we always planned a visit to the Kinderplaneten. The great garden and the insane playroom were really enjoyed once a week and we played diligently. Whether it was all the FSJs or the permanent staff, they fulfilled all of our daughter Luzi's play requests. We knew our Luzi was in such good hands that we could always enjoy a little time out either alone or together.

During the maintenance therapy, a little normal everyday life was finally possible again. Then suddenly, quite unexpectedly for all of us, the terrible news ... the leukemia is back. Nothing worked anymore ... our world stood still. Everything started all over again, clinic, chemotherapy, radiation, etc. And again the Kinderplanet stood by our side and managed to make us strong for everything that came next. Over and over again, there was someone who listened, dried tears and, above all, gave everything for our Luzi to bring out the children's laughter.

The time in the isolation room on the stem cell ward would have been unthinkable without your daily "good mood visit". You filled the room with life and laughter so that the almost 7 weeks flew by. Even the bad moments are not remembered so much because the good moments brought so much joy.

Due to Corona, the visits to the Children's Planet are unfortunately not possible at the moment, and the delicious lunch together on Thursdays is also sorely missed. Not to forget the nice afternoons for the parents' coffee on the ward. But despite all the limitations, the Kinderplanet brings hope, confidence, strength and laughter back into sad hearts.

You are simply "the best" and without you we would not have survived all this so well.

Thank you that you exist.

An extra heartfelt thank you from our Luzi in her own words: "The illness is stupid, but the good thing is that I got to know the Kinderplanet. The Kinderplanet means "a thousand times a lot" to me. I love you!
